With journal in hand (or use the printable version of this page), prayerfully think through the following questions.
How can you clear your evening calendar as you prepare for your night with Jesus?
If it is evening now jump into the following two experiences. If it is not evening, carve out time to do this tonight (or at your next opportunity). Put an appointment or alarm on your phone if that is helpful.
Reach out to resolve conflicts before you rest. Lift these efforts up in prayer to the Lord. Pray that God will be working to help resolve those conflicts that you have in your life.
Take time to reflect on your day and life, to praise God, and to dream of what is to come.
I Peter 5:7
7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

This is a wonderful way to fall asleep in prayer as you look forward to and savor the thought of meeting with Jesus in the morning. You can also use prayers such as the Lord’s Prayer, Psalm 23, and Psalm 4:8 to lead you into restful sleep.
Note - there are more suggestions for going to sleep with him in Resting and Sleeping with God.
